Are You a Control Freak?

control freak

Hi all! I am up on that mountain again, with no phone service and almost no wifi. I’m camped out in the cafeteria for temporary service so that I can post this article quoting Pema Chödrön.

I’ve never considered myself a control freak, but I’m starting to reconsider. I’ve switched rooms three times for different reasons, all of them valid, but my need to control my surroundings is becoming a problem. Cue this article from the Elephant in my inbox.  (You may have to give your email to read.)

Enjoy!

The Simple Question that Stopped Me from Being a Control Freak.

  1. Great article! I found that I needed to control everything when I was drinking to ensure my horrific hangovers didn’t feel even worse and/or make sure I had the wine flowing without hassle (work out in advance where to buy it etc). Now that I’m sober, I’m more than happy to plunge head first into each day without the need to know exactly where or how I land – it’s such freedom and I never want to be a slave to alcohol again.

    1. What a beautiful response! I love this: “… happy to plunge head first into each day without the need to know exactly where or how I land.” I found I still carried over some of my need to control, but identifying it is helping me to appreciate what is instead of what I think should be. ; )
